We offer a person-centred approach to both the support we offer and the sign language living environment that we offer.
Our staff have experience of working with people who have sensory loss and those who may have additional physical, emotional or mental health needs.
All staff receive training in British Sign Language (BSL) in addition to mandatory training.
Residents receive support on an individual basis, with independence encouraged through a range of life skills and group activities, which include arts/crafts, games designed to promote fitness, puzzles, board games, internet access and webcam.
In the grounds we have a greenhouse, a summerhouse and a woodwork shop, which can be accessed at any time independently or with support as required.
“I like …Easthill …garden, lots flowers, nice … summer house where we can sit and have tea and cake’
Events are organised throughout the year and include theatre trips, visiting Deaf clubs, holidays, day trips to places of interest, BSL church services, swimming, bowling or going out for coffee and shopping.
Easthill fosters a family environment, where residents have an input into the running of the home and organising the day’s events. We also very much encourage the participation and support of friends and family members.
‘Mum is out most days doing all sorts, We have to plan our visits around her busy life, nothing nicer than phoning only to find out she is out.”
