Deaf F

Welcome to the Youth Department

Our team work alongside young people in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton, and surrounding counties to encourage independence and facilitate opportunities where young deaf people can reach their full potential and access positive role models.

''We have seen a more confident Son. Also he seems to accept his hearing problem better. He realises he is not alone.'' - Parent

We do this by providing a range of activities and workshops designed for young people ages 11-19 with any level of hearing impairment.

Our service includes:

  • Deaf role models
  • Access to mainstream youth clubs and projects
  • Information point for young people and parents
  • One to one work
  • Confidential time with Youth Workers
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Training opportunities

The Deaf F programme (Deaf Expect Adventure for the Future) is run by deaf leaders. These activity programmes provide opportunities for young people to develop their personal and social skills. Young people attend our activities to meet with friends and build up networking opportunities which help prevent isolation in the community.

''It has given me confidence and helped me with my fear of heights'' - Deaf F youth
